D. Rejection of God’s Truth always
leads to reversionism.
1. The single greatest issue in life is
truth, 1 Tim 2:4-7; Eph 4:12-16; 2 Thess 2:10-13; Jn 3:21; 14:6;
17:8, 17; 18:37; Rom 1:18-25; Heb 11:6.
2. Only in truth can man find meaning, success
and happiness, 3 Jn 1:2-4.
3. Reversionism at its core is always about
rejection of Truth.
4. National reversionism is about society
rejecting of truths of DE.
5. Unbeliever reversionism is about the
rejection of truths in natural law.
6. Believer’s reversionism is all about the
rejection and relativizing of God’s truth.
7. Anytime truth is rejected it is exchanged
for some lie, Rom 1:25.
8.
Characteristics of Reversionism.
a. Bible doctrine is relativized.
b. Priorities are reversed.
c. Life dominated by the OSN - with accompanied
degeneracy.
d. Life of reaction and distraction.
e. Life of FSH, 2 Tim 3:4.
f. False value system: personal comfort,
affluence, pragmatism, utilitarianism.
g. Societies which have rejected God’s truth and
absolutes have always been willing to give up their freedom for
expediency.
h. Historically no society which has
rejected the absolutes of the Bible has ever survived major crises without
turning to an authoritative government for security.
i. As nations
increasingly become unstable by rejecting laws of divine establishment, they
seek international organizations for security – even if that means the
violation of their own constitutions.
j. As the memory of the Biblical base for laws
of divine establishment grows ever dimmer, freedom will continue to
disintegrate regardless of which the party is in office.
k. When principles
are gone, there remains only expediency at any price.
l. Without absolutes and universals man is
doomed.
m. The only hope for any nation or
society is the existence of a remnant of mature believers living out God’s
universal truths.
n. The Biblical truths with their attendant
virtues, values, and absolutes demand absolute commitment.
o. Commitment to truth is the antithesis to
pragmatism and utilitarianism.
E. Lawlessness and reversionism in
the last days of the Church Age, 2 Thess 2:3, 7.
1. Lawlessness, 2 Thess
2:3, 7.
2. Religious ascetic reversionism, 1 Tim
4:1-3.
3. Rejection of the Person and Work of Jesus
Christ, 2 Pet 2:1-3
4. Religious hucksterism, 2 Pet 2:15.
5. Denial of the Return of Jesus Christ, 2 Pet
3:3-4.
6. Hedonistic, narcissistic, emotional,
“religious” Christianity, 2 Tim 3:1-5
7. Rejection of sound doctrine, 2 Tim 4:3-4.
8. Self-confident in self-improvements and
attainments, Rev 3:15-16.
