COMMUNION:   CELEBRATION OF JESUS CHRIST

& THE GIFT OF JUSTIFICATION

 

A.   Communion Celebration,  1 Corinthians 11:17-34.

            1.   Why Communion?

            2.  Communion:  God’s grace provision. 

            3.  The sorry state of the carnal Corinthians in regard to each other, 1 Cor 11:17-22, 33-34. 

            4.   The sorry state of the Corinthians before God, 11:22, 28-31

 

 

B.    Man’s depravity, helplessness, and eternal fatal problems before the God.

            1.   The impossibility of getting +R from –R,  Job 14:4; Jer 13:23.

            2.  Man’s corruption begins at the moment of conception, Psalm 51.

            3.   God’s indictment of all men.  

                        a.   Sinfulness of Gentiles, Romans 1.

                        b.   Sinfulness of Jews, Romans 2.

                        c.   Condemnation of the entire human race, Romans 3:9-20.

 

C.   God is only able to do the impossible (–R to +R) through Jesus Christ.

            1.  THE GIFT!   Rom 3:24, Eph 2:8-10.

            2.   Justification, Rom 3:24.

            3.   Redemption, Rom 3:24.

            4.   Propitiation, Rom 3:25.

 

D.  Celebrating the GRACE OF GOD as instantiated in the marvelous

accomplishments of the Cross, Galatians 1-6.

            1.   GRACE:   Christ’s voluntary giving of Himself for our sins and the treasure trove filled with the blessings of grace, peace, deliverance, and glorification, Gal 1:3-5.

            2.   EXTREME DANGER/HAZARD, WARNING  ABOUT DILUTING PURE GRACE!  Apostolic curse on anyone who would, mix, dilute, or otherwise corrupt the grace of God, Gal 1:8; cf. Rom 11:6.           

            3.   GRACE:   Grace motivation of the Cross – how justification lays the grounds and motivation for sanctification, Gal 2:19-21; 3:1-5.

            4.   GRACE:    Christ was cursed for us on the Cross and thus freed us from the Law, Gal 3:10-14.

            5.   GRACE:  expect persecution from SR religionists, Gal  5:11; 6:12.

            6.   GRACE:   God’s grace is the only place for any boasting, Gal 6:14.
