THE As-Zs OF NEVERS IN MARRIAGE:

††††††††††† ††††††††††††††††††††††††††††††††††† ††††††††††††††††††††††††††††††††††††††††††††††††††††††††††††††††††††††††††††††††††††††††††††††††††††††††††††††††††††††††††††††††††††† ††††††††††† A- ANGER

†††††††††††

††††††††††† Anger is extremely destructive to any marriage.Anger destroys marital/personal love.†† Anger not only destroys marital love it also produces a host of other sins which further erode any capacity for happiness and appreciation in marriage. When a person allows anger to settle into his/her soul it leads to such things as bitterness, spitefulness, resentment, hostility, and continuous bad feelings toward the one you are to love and support in grace.

††††††††††† Anger manifests itself in such things as temper tantrums, hurtful words, pouting, as well as icy (or fiery) rages during which you refuse to really acknowledge the other person.†† The problem with anger is not the anger itself, but failure to handle it biblically and resolve it quickly through forgiveness.††

††††††††††† Never go to bed when angry, i.e. never let a quarrel continue on the second day.Confess the sin of anger, pray to God for help, and stay up and talk about the issue with your partner.†† Failure to quickly resolve the mental attitude sin of anger will result further the deterioration of your marriage.

††††††††††† Be doctrinally aware of what the Bible says about anger so you can avoid this sin and root it out of your life:.

††††††††††††††††††††††† 1)Anger is a mental attitude sin which grieves the Spirit and therefore shuts down the spiritual dynamics in the life,

Ephesians 4:30 And do not grieve the Holy Spirit of God, by whom you were sealed for the day of redemption. 31 Let all bitterness and wrath and anger and clamor and slander be put away from you, along with all malice.

††††††††††††††††††††††† 2)Anger begins like a small hole in a reservoir, letting out a tiny trickle. But if it is not stopped, the hole is enlarged and destructive flood pours through, Prov 17:12.††††

Proverbs 17:14 The beginning of strife is like letting out water, So abandon the quarrel before it breaks out.

††††††††††††††††††††††† 3)†† Anger motivates jealousy and other mental attitude sins, Prov 27:4.

Ephesians 4:30 And do not grieve the Holy Spirit of God, by whom you were sealed for the day of redemption. 31 Let all bitterness and wrath and anger and clamor and slander be put away from you, along with all malice.

Proverbs 27:4 Wrath is fierce and anger is a flood, But who can stand before jealousy?

Proverbs 29:22 An angry man stirs up strife, And a hot-tempered man abounds in transgression.

††††††††††††††††††††††† 4)†† Anger is related to stupidity,

Ecclesiastes 7:9 Do not be eager in your heart to be angry, For anger resides in the bosom of fools.

††††††††††††††††††††††† 5)†† Anger comes from the old sin nature- donít blame others,

Galatians 5:19 Now the deeds of the flesh are evident, which are: immorality, impurity, sensuality, 20 idolatry, sorcery, enmities, strife, jealousy, outbursts of anger, disputes, dissensions, factions,

†††††††††††

††††††††††††††††††††††† 6)†† Anger hinders the effectiveness of prayer,

1 Timothy 2:8 Therefore I want the men in every place to pray, lifting up holy hands, without wrath and dissension.

††††††††††††††††††††††† 7)†† Anger leads to self-induced misery,

Proverbs 22:8 He who sows iniquity will reap vanity, And the rod of his fury will perish.

††††††††††††††††††††††† 8)†† Anger brings misery to others around you,

Proverbs 21:19 It is better to live in a desert land, Than with a contentious and vexing woman.

Proverbs 25:24 It is better to live in a corner of the roof Than in a house shared with a contentious woman.

††††††††††††††††††††††† 9)†† Anger destroys virtue and character Ė in anger the husband fails to live out the biblical mandates to love the wife and the wife fails to live out the mandates to esteem her husband. With the destruction of virtue and character, there is no capacity for the blessings of true intimacy and happiness.†† Without character and virtue the believer does not have the capacity to make adjustments in marriage and solve the various problems which are part of any marriage.

††††††††††† The key to happiness in marriage like anything else comes down to adjusting one's thinking in accordance to the Word of God.  Satan and his henchmen love it when a believer decides to remain angry at the husband or wife for he knows that it is one of the best ways to destroy the beauty and intimacy of a relationship that has the capacity to reflect the very grace of Jesus Christ and the church.
